Me
My name is Candice.
I am a woman, but a child at heart.
I run when I feel like running. I dance when I feel like dancing. I sing when I like the song that I’m listening to. I move with the rhythm of my daily life, and I love it!
I am a mother.
I love that, too.
My favorite thing to do is to walk through fields of tall grass, collecting flowers, reminiscing about moving irrigation pipe as a teenager and pretending to be attacked by packs of small green dinosaurs (you remember Jurassic Park, yes?) while encouraging my children to join me in the grass. I get a little thrill every time I convince them that a statue is real and looking at them or that piranha’s live in the toilet. I like to keep things interesting around here! Unfortunately, my methods of diversion are beginning to catch up with me. At least one of my children end up in my bed with me (and my husband) every night…usually all three…for the past eight years.
Sigh…
I am tired.
Very, very tired!
Which makes me tease more.
It’s a vicious cycle.
I am a wife.
I am affectionate. I love reading books together and laughing out loud. I love snuggling on the couch for Saturday afternoon naps. I love holding hands. I love being in his corner, cheering him on. I love having dinner on the table when he gets home from work (but I’m not very good at it). I love jumping out from behind the door and scaring him after a long day (for both of us). I love sneaking up on him and spraying him down with the hose, then getting away before he can get me back…sigh…I love being married…I think he likes it too.
I am a twin.
An identical twin. Well, we’re not so much alike now. I mean, if you saw me walking around, you wouldn’t confuse me with her, because, well, she died. When she was 24. We were 24. She had cancer. I cried. For a long time, but I’m okay now.
I am a Mormon.
I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe in life after death. I believe in resurrection. I believe in eternal families. I believe in being happy. I believe in loving and being loved. I believe that God loves his children and that he laughs. He loves to laugh. Just like me. That’s why I’m okay now. Because He made it okay. Just for me. And you, too.
I’m just a girl.
I like being a girl and I like being me. I like that you are you and I hope that you like it, too. The way that I see it is: if you have to spend eternity with yourself, you might as well enjoy your company. That’s what I live by. That’s why I keep on laughing. Enjoy the journey, because it’s going to be a long ride, my friends!
Other things you might be interested in knowing about me:
I have six sisters (including my sister in-law) and two brothers, and I love being from a big family.
I have never read or seen twilight, which should count for something. In a big way.
I love to read.
When choosing between sleeping and eating, I will choose sleeping every time!
I home school my kids, and I like it.
I’m a vegan, and I like that, too.
In general, I love change. I need it. I love living in a place with four seasons. I need seasons. I move my furniture a lot. I de-junk everything. I read how-to books and then do what I read. I’m constantly on the prowl for new, easier ways of doing things and making things better and more useful. It’s my rhythm. Change. In the direction of simplicity and self-sufficiency and eco-friendly.
Simplify. Simplify. Simplify. That’s my motto. My dream is to live on a non-traditional (that’s just how I am) farm with trees and a river and places to hike and forage and enough room for an orchard and garden and such so that I can live on the land and enjoy the simplicity and magnificence of Gods creations and watch things move through their seasons of life. It does something for me. I love it. I am a country girl through and through!
